NY Guardians Make Their XFL Debut With Victory

The XFL doesn’t have the star power of the NFL. Vince McMahon’s latest venture is hoping to capture the attention of hardcore football fans in the aftermath of the Super Bowl. The XFL says it’ll be patient in the aftermath of the Alliance of American Football failing in the midst of its first season.

The XFL made it’s return to the New York area where the New York Guardians kicked off their season in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday. The Guardians, coached by former New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride showed off a strong defense and an explosive offensive by easily beating the Tampa Bay Vipers 23-3 in front of over 17,000 fans at MetLife Stadium.
