The new Sopranos movie is called The Many Saints of Newark and is a prequel that looks at the formative years of New Jersey gangster, Tony Soprano. James Gandolfini’s son will play the young Tony.
There is so much interest in this movie, but could it ever live up to expectations? James Gandolfini’s portrayal of Tony Soprano is so locked into our conscience. His son James may look like his Dad, but what about his acting chops? Must be a lot of pressure on him. Prequels are always so hard to do. Very few have been truly successful. This one will be a financial hit, and we hope it will be an artistic trimph, but that is not a sure bet. We wish them all the best.
